Vulnerability

- Is the exposure to harm
- A person is vulnerable when he or she is easy to harm
- Vulnerability is a product of threat and risk – when you know there is a
danger (threat) and you venture in knowingly (risk), you expose (vulnerable)
yourself to harm.

Like RISK, vulnerability also stems from environment, geography, time and
situations, lack of experience and professionalism. In addition to taking a RISK,
a journalist also makes him or herself vulnerable to harm when they are not
PROFESSIONAL, lack KNOWLEDGE about the environment or LACK TRAINING
in safety procedures.
